ROTATION FELLOWSHIP FOR UROLOGISTS MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN CONFEDERATION OF UROLOGY (CAU)

The Spanish Association of Urology (AEU) and the Foundation for Research in Urology (FIU) announce 2 training grants for urologists resident in Latin America and members of the American Confederation of Urology CAU, of 10.000€ each, to rotate in ROC Clinic for a period of 4 to 6 months.

Rotation Fellowship Programme:

The urologist will be able to join 2 of the following training programmes:

  1. Robotic Surgery training at Davinci (Intuitive) and HUGO (Medtronic).
  2. BPH surgery:
    • Prostatic enucleation with Holmiun laser and TFL laser.
    • Aquabeam,
    • Robotic and Laparoscopic Enucleation
    • Rezum, Itind, Urolift

3. Andrology and reconstructive surgery of the male genital area: penile prosthesis, Peyronie’s surgery, urethroplasties, fistulas, removal of flaps, abdominoplasties, liposuction.
4. Lithiasis: CSUR, RIRS, percutaneous surgery and ESWL.
5. Female Functional Urology: robotic colposacropexy, female urinary sphincter, female urethroplasty, sacral root neurostimulation, urinary incontinence treatment.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a member of the American Confederation of Urology (CAU).
  2. Residence and place of work in Latin America.
  3. Urologists whose degree has been obtained within the last 5 years.
  4. The applicant must attach the following documentation:
    • Curriculum vitae.
    • Letter from the Head of Department of the Hospital where he/she works, authorising his/her trip to Spain.
    • Letter justifying the scholarship application.
    • Justification of being a member of the CAU
    • Specialist qualificatio.

This documentation will be sent to the General Secretariat of the Spanish Association of Urology (AEU) by e-mail, aeu@aeu.es.

Important information:

  • The rotation will take place at the ROC centre in Madrid, for a period of four to six months and as an observer, therefore, without any healthcare activity.
  • The grant amounts to €10,000 gross (minus the 24% withholding tax required by the Spanish tax authorities).
  • It does not include a travel allowance: air tickets and accommodation are at your own expense.
  • All applications received by the EUA will be sent to the CAU to propose four possible candidates; the final selection will be made by a jury appointed by the FIU and ROC Clinic and its decision will not be subject to appeal.
  • Once the grant has been awarded, they will have to apply to the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs for authorisation to stay in Spain. Subdirección General de Desarrollo Profesional (Pº del Prado, 18-20. 28071 Madrid), providing the documentation requested in the following link:

Once the authorisation from the Ministry has been received, the grant will become effective and the student will begin to receive it. The grant will be paid in four monthly instalments in advance.

Once the rotation has been completed, a report of the rotation, signed by the Head of Service, will be sent to the Secretariat of the AEU.
