On May 2, 2025, I received with great emotion and deep gratitude an official letter from the American Confederation of Urology (CAU), signed by its Secretary General, Dr. Alejandro Rodríguez. In it, I was informed that I have been distinguished as an Honorary Member of the CAU, in recognition of my professional career, my contribution to the development of urology in Latin America, and my active involvement in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and academic collaboration between the CAU and the Spanish Association of Urology (AEU).
This recognition, which includes a diploma and the emblematic silver “CAU PIN”, will be awarded during the inaugural ceremony of the CAU Congress Panama 2025, to be held on October 9 and 10.
I accept this honor with humility. In moments like this, one often wonders whether they are truly deserving of such distinctions. However, beyond the recognition, what truly fulfills me is the opportunity to continue working enthusiastically to build a stronger, more united urological community, committed to both scientific and human excellence.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the President of the CAU, Dr. Alejandro Rodríguez, MD, FACS, for this meaningful distinction. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the President of the AEU, Dr. José Luis Álvarez-Ossorio, for his constant support, trust, and for offering me so many opportunities to grow and contribute.
To the entire executive committee of the American Confederation of Urology, thank you for this tremendous honor. I accept it as renewed motivation to continue contributing to the advancement of our specialty and to the strengthening of ties between Europe and Latin America.
We move forward, with passion and responsibility.
