The organisation established by ROC Clinic officially launched in Madrid, presenting its three core areas of activity: international healthcare cooperation, scientific research and medical education.
Madrid, 19 June 2026.
Fundación ROC officially launched on 18 June at Sala SOLO in Madrid, bringing together representatives from the healthcare, business, institutional and charitable sectors to share the Foundation’s vision, ongoing projects and strategic priorities for the years ahead.
The event welcomed a distinguished audience and was conceived as an opportunity to foster new partnerships, united by a shared ambition to expand the reach and impact of the Foundation’s initiatives in the years to come.
The presentation was led by Dr Javier Romero-Otero, President of Fundación ROC, and Dr Juan Justo Quintas, Vice-President, who introduced the origins of the Foundation, its three main areas of activity and several projects already underway both in Spain and in countries where access to specialist healthcare remains limited.
Fundación ROC was established with a clear mission: to improve people’s lives through health and education by supporting initiatives that combine science, compassion and hope. Based in Madrid and with an international outlook, the Foundation reflects the collective commitment of a multidisciplinary team that sees medicine not only as a clinical discipline, but also as a powerful driver of social change.
During the event, the Foundation presented the three strategic pillars on which its work is built.
The first is medical education and training, delivered through scholarships, clinical fellowships and professional exchange programmes for healthcare professionals wishing to expand their expertise in advanced surgical techniques. The aim is to promote access to high-quality medical education while helping to develop specialists who can transfer that knowledge to their own healthcare systems.
The second pillar is scientific research, through the promotion of clinical studies, collaboration with research institutions and support for initiatives aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases. This strong commitment to innovation and knowledge generation reflects the Foundation’s determination to contribute to the advancement of modern medicine.
The third area of activity is international healthcare cooperation, one of the central themes of the launch event. Fundación ROC currently develops projects in several countries with the objective of improving access to specialist healthcare, strengthening local healthcare capacity and supporting the sustainable development of underserved communities.
Among these initiatives is the Foundation’s work in Tanzania, carried out in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Healthcare Cooperation (FECS) and local partners. These projects support both clinical care and medical training at Bugando Medical Centre and the Mwanzugi Health Centre. In addition, the Foundation is involved in the development of a secondary school that will expand educational opportunities for future generations in the region.
The Foundation also presented its high-complexity urological surgery missions in Honduras, undertaken in partnership with Hospital Mario Catarino Rivas in San Pedro Sula, alongside other initiatives designed to improve access to specialist healthcare for particularly vulnerable populations.
During his address, Dr Javier Romero-Otero highlighted the importance of building a project founded on collaboration and shared commitment: “Fundación ROC was created with the ambition of giving something back to society after everything we have received over the years. We want to promote projects that create opportunities, strengthen healthcare systems and help improve people’s lives wherever the need is greatest.”
The official launch of Fundación ROC marks the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation, which looks to the future with the ambition of bringing together new partners, institutions and companies committed to a shared vision: using health, education and international cooperation as drivers of development and social transformation.
