MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH IN THE FIRST TEACHING DAY FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ORGANIZED BY SEGURCAIXA ADESLAS

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Spain. For this reason, Adeslas Campus, a digital platform promoted by SegurCaixa Adeslas, is organizing its first ‘Training and Innovation Conference on Cardiovascular Health’ with the aim of helping healthcare professionals to continue their training and allowing them to exchange experiences and information more directly.

Cardiovascular health goes beyond the specialty of cardiologists. For this reason, Adeslas has brought in specialists in Dermatology, Gynecology, Endocrinology and Urology to contribute their point of view. Collaboration between professionals in these specialties can help to mitigate cardiovascular risk, so communication between specialists and the sharing of their experiences is of great importance.

From the specialty of Urology, Dr. Javier Romero-Otero, director of the Department of Urology at HM Hospitales in Madrid and medical director of ROC Clinic, explained how erectile dysfunction can be a warning sign of cardiovascular risk.

“Symptomatology of the lower urinary tract may be related to cardiovascular disease. From the age of 50 onwards, men present a degree of erectile dysfunction and it is necessary to make sure that it is not a consequence of arteriosclerotic syndrome. They should undergo an ultrasound and a cardiovascular study because the arteries of the penis are often calcified and will not respond to treatment,” he said.

Redacción Médica reports the main conclusions of this training meeting.
