Meeting in Gregorio Marañón Hospital
On April 22th, the congress“Prostate Cancer chirurgical treatment: Focality Vs. Radicalism. Sexual Consequences”was celebrated at Gregorio Marañón Hospital, in Madrid, reuniting over a hundred professionals and specialistson the national and international scene.
The program included a wide range of themes, live surgery performances and round-table discussions where the speakers addressed relevant topics:
TERMIC THERAPY (CRYOTHERAPY) VS.CHIRURGICAL PROCEDURES(ROBOTIC – LAPAROSCOPY – OPEN SURGERIES)
EVOLUTION AND STATUS OF THE ROBOTIC PROSTATECTOMY
EVOLUTION AND STATUS OF THE FOCAL THERAPY TREATMENT FOR LOCALIZED PROSTATE CANCER
Several worldwide known specialists participated as guest speakers, among which were Dr. Fernando Blanco, Urology Specialist at the Surgery Center at Doral, Miami (US.), Dr. Gabriel Ogaya-Pinies, Doctor at the Florida Hospital-Global Robotic Institute, Florida (US) and Dr. Enrique LledóGarcía. These are only a few examples of the great professionals who shared their knowledge; sadly, this short post does not allow me to include them all.
The revolutionary time for prostate tumour treatments was key in this meeting, as most of it focused on chirurgical treatments of Prostate Cancer. However, in cases where the cancer has a small size and it is not considered as aggressive, it is necessary to try to treat the tumour exclusively, seeking to avoid more radical performances affecting the whole gland.
As a prostate cancer expert, I made myself a presentation on Urinary Incontinence and Erectile Dysfunction sequels caused after the treatment of tumours.
Nowadays, new focal therapies seem to treat the tumour with far less sequels. They are also more effective and widely accepted in patients.
To conclude this post, I would like to thank the Organizer Committee for inviting me, the rest of speakers and the attendees, for their presence and attention.
