Dr. Javier Romero Otero’s is an expert in Urology and Sexual Medicine for Men diagnose, treatment, investigation and teaching.

He is an international benchmark in Andrology, Male Functional Urology and Prostatic Pathology.

He works in both public and private sectors. He is the head of the Andrology and Male Health Care Unit in Hospital 12 de Octubre (Madrid). Thanks to his high specialisation degree, he also works in several private clinics, always focusing on Prostatic Pathology, Andrology and Functional Urology.

Dr. Romero Oterowas born in Madrid, where he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Complutense in 2000. He completed a residency in Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre Urology unit and published his doctoral thesis“Prevention of metabolic, sexual, musculoskeletal and cognitive disorders caused by androgenic deprivation in prostate cancer treatments.”

– Fellow Uro-Oncología: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, NYC (USA). 2006-2007.

– Urology specialist in Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre. (2007 to present).

– Head of the Andrology and Male Health Care Unit in Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre. (2010 to present).

– Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery in Universidad Complutense de Madrid 1994-2000.

– Doctorate degree in Medicine at Universidad Complutense de Madrid given for his doctoral thesis “Prevention of metabolic, sexual, musculoskeletal and cognitive disorders caused by androgenic deprivation in prostate cancer treatments.”

– Fellow in Uro-Oncology: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, USA (2006).

– Fellow in European Board of Urology (2012).

– Fellow in Sexual Medicine for the European Society Sexual Medicine (2012).

– Member of the Men’s Health YAU group (European Association of Urology).

– Training residencies: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (NYC), Weill Cornell Medical Centre (NYC), Jackson Hospital (Miami).

– Assistant professor in Health Sciences for the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Department of Surgery, at the Faculty of Medicine. (2007 to present).

– Lecturer on the Human Reproduction Master of Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2007 to present).

– Teaching head and manager of the Urology unit in Facultad de Medicina CEU San Pablo (2012 to present).

– Over 30 scientific papers in indexed pubmed journals.
– Writer and co-writer of 28 chapters of Urology books.
– Professor and lecturer in national and international courses.
– Head and co-researcher in more than 15 international clinical trials about prostate cancer, Benign Prostate Hyperplasia and Andrology. (phases II, III and IV)
– Over 100 contributions to national and international congresses.
– Reviewer for scientific magazines such as: European of Urology, Journal of Sexual Medicine, Urology, Actas Españolas de Urología y Archivos Españoles de Urología.
– First-prize Joaquín Albarrán winner as the best communicator in the 72nd AEU (Spanish Urology Association) Congress. Third-prize Joaquín Albarrán winner as the best communicator in the 71st AEU Congress.
